Web design in Auckland, for businesses worth taking seriously

Lychee is an independent web studio in Auckland, run by Sujen and Dylan. We design and build websites for established businesses — the structure, the visual design, the build, and the move into the real world.

Fixed price and scope, agreed before we start. No handovers — the people you brief are the people who build it, from the first conversation through to launch. Yours to keep once it is live.

( What's involved )

What a website with us actually includes

Structure before decoration

We start with the business, the people you want to reach, and what the site has to help them understand or do. Then the structure gets shaped around what matters most, so every page has a reason to exist.

Design built from your identity

We build from the brand you already have, and we do not start a new one. How the site looks, feels and moves should be unmistakably yours, not a template with your logo dropped into it.

A build that keeps the detail

The same intention that shaped the design carries into the code — the rhythm, the spacing, the way it moves. What you approved is what launches.

Live, and then yours

We handle the move: domain, redirects from the old site, analytics and Search Console. After that it is yours to run, with an editor for the everyday text and images.

( How it works )

From first call to launch

  1. Step 01

    We understand your story

We start with the business, the people you want to reach, and what you want them to understand or do.

  2. Step 02

    We shape your digital experience

We build from the identity you’ve already created, deciding what deserves attention, how the experience should feel, and how people should move through it.

  3. Step 03

We bring it into the world

We build, test and launch, then leave you with something that is yours to grow with.

Before any of it starts, we agree what is being built and what it costs. What we need from you is your logo and brand assets, the content you want on the site, and any photography you would like us to use. We will help work out what belongs where, but having the content ready is what keeps a timeline honest.

( Working locally )

What being in Auckland changes

What it genuinely helps with

  • We can sit in a room with you when it is useful — usually at the start, when the structure and the priorities are being decided and a conversation beats a document.
  • Same hours, same week. Feedback sent in the morning is in the build that afternoon, not queued behind a time zone.
  • We are selling into the same market you are, in the same currency, to the same customers. That shows up in the small judgements more than in the big ones.

What it honestly doesn't

  • The work itself. Most of a project happens over calls and shared links wherever you are, which is exactly how we work with businesses elsewhere in the country.
  • Being local is not a reason to hire anyone. Look at the work, the way the price is set, and whether the person you talk to is the person who builds it.
Outside Auckland?

( Honest fit )

Who this is for, and who it isn't

A good fit

  • Established businesses with a real offer and the content to back it, who want the site shaped around what makes them distinctive, not dropped into a template.
  • A site that has stopped representing the business — outgrown, inherited, or built quickly years ago and never revisited.
  • Anyone who wants the person designing the site to be the person building it, and would rather have one conversation than four.

Probably not us

  • Projects that need the whole site written from scratch. We shape structure, headlines and key wording, but full copywriting is scoped separately.
  • Anything that has to be live in a few days. The shortest project we run is about a week.
  • If the budget is genuinely a few hundred dollars, a template you build yourself is the honest answer, and we would rather say that on the call than take the job.

( Our answers )

What Auckland businesses ask

How much does a website cost in Auckland?

Ours start at $1,500 for a landing page and $3,000 for a full website, with bookings or payments from $4,500. Anything more bespoke is quoted by proposal.

Whichever it is, the scope and the price are agreed before we start. If something falls outside that scope later, you will know the price before we build it.

How long does it take?

Most projects take one to four weeks depending on what you need, and the shortest we run is about a week.

For full websites the clock starts once we have your content ready to work with — that is usually what decides whether a timeline holds.

Do we have to meet in person?

No, though we are in Auckland and happy to when it helps. Some projects genuinely benefit from an hour in a room at the start.

Most of the work happens over calls and shared links either way, which is also how we work with businesses elsewhere in New Zealand.

Can I update the website myself afterwards?

Yes. Our standard websites include an editor so you can change everyday text and images without calling us, and we will show you how to use it before launch.

Do I own the website?

Yes. Once it launches, it is yours — no monthly build fee and no lock-in.

Run it yourself, host it elsewhere, or keep us around to look after the technical side. The domain, hosting and any other services are set up in your own name so you can leave at any time.

Can you rebuild our site without losing our Google rankings?

We take care to preserve what the existing site has already earned: mapping old URLs to the new ones, putting redirects in place, keeping important page information intact, and submitting the new sitemap through Search Console.

Rankings can never be guaranteed by anyone. What we can do is make sure a rebuild does not throw away useful search value unnecessarily.

Tell us about the business

What it does, what the website needs to do for it, and when you would like it live. We will come back with a scope, a price and a timeline — or an honest reason we are not the right studio.
